Find Your Values

    1. Find a quiet space, disconnect from technology, and bring a pen, a notebook, or paper. Start by questioning what matters most to you in life and write your reflections.

    2. Now identify three individuals you hold in high regard, and going over the list below, circle the characteristics of those people.

    3. With the same list, now circle values that make you take action if you get excited. Discern what propels you to take action. Is it financial security, recognition, stability, influence, altruism, or something else? Pinpointing your motivations will help clarify your underlying values.

    4. Now, look at the list again and circle the words you are most comfortable with behaving this way.

    5. If you have more than five values, eliminate some until you end up with the top five that you most identify with.

    6. Now write how your day would be if it were aligned with the five values you chose.

       a) What would your ideal day look like? (Include small details).

       b) What time do you wake up, what would your breakfast be like, and who would be with you?

       c) What things would you do in the morning, and who would you have lunch with? Always based on your five values.

       d) What would you like to do to get people to pay you, and who would you help with your work?

       e) What else do you do based on your five values?
